The HT-2000, HT-2800 and HT-3000 are all equipped with a NEMA 15 receptacle, ready to test cord-connected products. When products designed to be permanently connected to the source of supply are tested, these jumpers are required to make the connections to the black, white and optionally green wires.
Option J2:
For two-wire products without a green grounding wire, jumper J2 is required. In this case, the Ground Check switch on the back of the hipot tester is turned to the OFF position. The black and white wires from the product being tested are connected together to the RED alligator clip on jumper J2. The other supplied lead is a black banana plug/alligator clip jumper that is connected between the RETURN receptacle on the hipot tester and exposed dead metal on the product being tested. An example of this type of construction is a standard building fixture
Option J3:
For three-wire products with black, white and green wires, jumper J3 is required. In this case, the Ground Check switch on the back panel of the hipot tester is turned ON. The black and white wire are connected to the RED alligator clip on Jumper J3, the green wire is connected to the BLACK alligator clip on Jumper J3. The other supplied lead is a black banana plug/alligator clip jumper that is connected between the RETURN receptacle on the hipot tester and exposed dead metal on the product being tested. Most all permanently connected products will use J3. J3 can also be used to test two wire products by leaving the BLACK alligator lead on Jumper J3 disconnected, and turning the Ground Check switch on the back panel of the hipot tester to the OFF position.
Order Option J2 for two wire products.
Order Option J3 for three wire products.
