The IFD - Insulation Fault Detector option for MegaPulse detects arcing breakdowns through insulation. While the MegaPulse outputs a voltage/current surge to stress the insulation system under test, this option will report a breakdown event.
The IFD option requires adjustment of a sensitivity control on the front panel of the MegaPulse to minimize false tripping. We supply a test impedance which allows some general guidelines for setting the initial sensitivity of the IFD option. Further experience with the DUT will result in some fine tuning of this adjustment to obtain the exact sensitivity desired.
The IFD option also has red and green LEDs to display the results of the last test.
