Pass/Fail Reference for the MegaPulse Defib-5 Surge Tester

The MegaPulse Defib-5 Pass - Fail Reference is also available. This reference is provided with high voltage receptacles and jumper cables to connect between the OUTPUT, RETURN, and MEASURING POINT receptacles of the Defib-5 and simulates a borderline passing result (1 volt appearing on the Y1-Y2 jacks +/- 5%) for ensuring tester function before testing an EUT. The Pass - Fail Reference is inserted in place of the DUT when the Defib-Proof test for Individual Patient Connections (IEC 60601-1:2005 Fig.10) is conducted.

The graph above represents a properly functioning Defib-5, which was discharged into the Y1-Y2 measurement points of Table 50. (For another example which shows the seconds-long persistence of this waveform, click on the thumbnail above.) A functional check of the Defib-5 would be complete by using the Defib-5 Pass - Fail Reference as noted above; then conducting a second test by checking the output of Y1-Y2 with nothing connected to the Defib-5 Measuring Point, resulting in zero volts output, as shown in the graph below.

Simulates a barely passing EUT, to check function of the Defib-5 surge generator and output circuit.

Connects easily to the output of the Defib-5 Surge Generator, and to the input of the Defib-5 output circuit with Defib-5 cables.

Tests the output of the surge generator, the cable function, and the output circuit simultaneously. Everything has to be working properly to show the expected result.

Easy oscilloscope check. If the correct output is obtained, the oscilloscope is working correctly.
