The tests required in TE001, Para. 17 are done with Pulse Characteristics as described in Para. 17.1.4. Compliance West USA offers surge equipment that will generate the waveform required for each of these tests. For check-testing equipment before submission, companies may find the economics of purchasing our MegaPulse line compelling.
Two testers are needed to perform the tests required in TE001, Para. 17.1.4 in order to test to the requirements of Para. 17. Output voltages are continuously variable so setting the output voltage to the highest voltage that does not turn on the primary or secondary protection is straightforward. Optional BNC oscilloscope outputs to monitor voltage and current are available. Also available is our TestMinder option, which allows automated pulse train testing.
MegaPulse .64x32/3x37-4-1 15ohm
MegaPulse .64x32/3x37-4-1 15ohm - Designed to generate the surge test described in Para. 17.1.4.1 of TE001. The peak output pulse voltage is 4kV. The output voltage (open circuit) waveform is 640 nSec rise time by 32 uSec duration and the current (short circuit) waveform is 3 uSec rise time by 37 uSec duration. The output impedance of the MegaPulse is 15 ohms. A front-panel button provides reversal of output polarity. To test, the front panel voltage meter is set to 4000V.

Features
MegaPulse 10x700/1.5x25-2 15ohm
MegaPulse 10x700/1.5x25-2 15ohm - Designed to generate the surge test described in Paras. 17.1.4.2 and 17.1.4.3 of TE001. The peak output pulse voltage is 2kV. The output voltage (open circuit) waveform is 10 uSec rise time by 700 uSec duration and the current (short circuit) waveform is 1.5 uSec rise time by 25 uSec duration. The output impedance of the MegaPulse is 15 ohms. A front-panel button provides reversal of output polarity. To test, the front panel voltage meter is adjusted to the highest voltage that does not turn on the primary or secondary protection (approx. 1kV-2kV).
