MegaPulse Capacitor Series:
Surge Testing of Capacitors to the requirements of IEC 384

Compliance West USA feels there is no need to spend more than necessary to obtain results required for approvals. Our MegaPulse Capacitor line is a case in point. Many times, manufacturers need to pretest or witness test only a small number of separate capacitor Surge testing requirements, but find that to do so they need to purchase a large base station/plug in solution. For these companies, a more cost-effective solution may be to purchase a MegaPulse or two. In many cases, the cost of an entire MegaPulse is less than the cost of the plug-in for other solutions. The MegaPulses are used with a general purpose oscilloscope for waveform capture and evaluation.

The MEGAPULSE Capacitor Series is designed to test capacitors in accordance with IEC384-14, Annex A, Table XVI. Two testers are offered, one performing the tests in the Table, Lines 1-4, and the other performing the tests in Line 5-10. The suite of testers outputs the maximum voltage required for each Line of the Table.

For the lines in BLACK type: Capacitor Series A.

Purchase of the MegaPulse Capacitor Series A and B testers will allow complete testing of Capacitors in accordance with the test schematic shown in Annex A. MegaPulse Capacitor Series A and B ship with cables, graphs of theoretical and actual waveforms, and a Calibration Certificate. One-year warranty. Generates the waveform required by IEC 384, Annex A, for Surge voltage testing of capacitors.

Designed with operator safety in mind: Set up the EUT to the right and behind the tester, and a right-handed operator will find himself standing to the left of the tester, allowing maximum separation.

Theoretical graphs and actual graphs showing the output of your tester are included with each MegaPulse Capacitor Tester, allowing easy sanity checks and proof to visiting agency engineers of test setups.

Optional 1000:1 BNC Oscilloscope output allows quick connections and easy evaluation of output waveforms.

Reverse polarity waveforms available by pushing a button on the front panel. No need to change the test setup. Positive polarity indication minimizes errors.

Front panel voltage meter shows residual voltage in charging circuit for safer operation.
