
The Surge Tests required in this Table can be performed with the MegaPulse 2x10s-1.5-2 8/15 ohm as described below. However, if the tests in Table 4-2, Surge 4; and Issues 1 and 2, Table 4-3, and Issue 3, Table 4-4 are to be performed, we recommend use of the MegaPulse 2x10s-5, as the testing for all these paragraphs can be done with this tester.For a list of cross-references of GR-1089 tests to MegaPulse equipment, click here.
GR-1089, Issue 1 and 2, Table 4-4, and Issue 3, Table 4-5:
MegaPulse 2x10s-1.5-2 8/15 ohm - A dual-channel tester. Constructed in accordance with the dual channel requirements of GR-1089 Issue 3 Table 4-2, for use in conducting the Differential and Longitudinal Tests described in Issue 3, Table 4-5. Table 4-2 requires a single supply feeding both outputs, and this tester is built with a common 200A supply. Outputs are correct for two-channel tests, and for single-channel tests when the MegaPulse is configured per the TEST NOTE below.
Peak output voltage is adjustable up to 1500 volts; peak short circuit current is 100A minimum at 800V using the 8 ohm tap, and at 1500V using the 15 ohm tap. Both taps are available for connection on the front panel. A switch is provided for reversal of output polarity. Optional 1000:1 divider network available for oscilloscope connection (Option BNCV. Please note that BNCV displays peak voltage properly, but waveform shape is not correct. Use for reference only.).
Waveform generated is 2x10/2x10, Vp= 1500V. To perform the Surge 1 Test, the voltage meter is set to 800V using the voltage adjust knob on the front panel, and the 8 ohm tap is used. To perform the Surge 2 Test, the voltage meter is set to 1500 V and the 15 ohm tap is used.
Five output taps can be provided so other tests in GR-1089 can be conducted. Zout=2.5, 5, 8, 10 and
15 ohm.
Enclosure is 19 x 3U, rack mountable (3U enclosure)
Outputs are grounded.
