MegaPulse Antenna Surge
Continuing the Compliance West USA notion that smaller and cheaper is better if the job gets done, we introduce to you our line of surge testers for UL 1950, CSA 1950 and EN 60950. There are three specific waveforms included in the Standard, and Compliance West USA offers solution for all three. Use with a general purpose oscilloscope for waveform capture.
Please take a look at our solution for surge testing for Data Processing Equipment. The MegaPulse 10x700 Series conducts tests in Paragraph 6.4.2.1, and the MegaPulse 1.2x50 Series conducts tests in Paragraph 2.9.1. For Antenna System Wiring Tests as noted in Paragraph 7.3.2, use the MegaPulse Antenna Surge. Click to see a review of the features of the MegaPulse Series.
All MegaPulse Testers can be optionally equipped with TestMinder, which allows computer control, test recording and the ability to conduct multiple testing sequences, including phase reversal. In addition, the MegaPulse can be configured with Arc Detection, allowing the operator to see if a breakdown has occurred. If the Arc Detection and TestMinder options are ordered together, the test record will show if the tests passed or failed.
Pulse monitoring with an oscilloscope can be accomplished using either of two options we have developed:
Our option BNCV is a 1000:1 BNC output on the front panel of the tester. This is a convenient method for monitoring whether the pulse was output, but timing and amplitude from this jack are not in specification and the resulting oscilloscope waveform is for reference only; not for measurement use.
The second option is a used, calibrated Tektronix P6015 1000:1 probe. After following the setup procedure in the Tektronix manual (needed every time a different oscilloscope is used), the waveform is accurately displayed on the oscilloscope screen. Since this probe is large and external to our tester, it is not such a convenient and tidy solution.
The MegaPulse Antenna Surge features our exclusive design IEC relay which is built to the requirements of IEC 65, Fig. 7b. Any of the other EN 60950 MegaPulse Testers can be optionally configured with this switch as well.
